Bird of Passage Project = Tomoko Aso + Akiko Takeuchi

2009 Sep.22 (Tue) - Oct.11 (Sun)

Art Front Graphics will be showcasing the work of Tomoko Aso and Akiko Takeuchi in an exhibition titled, “Wataridori Project” (Migratory Bird Project). This exhibit will be held during the Sarugaku-Sai Festival, which takes place from October 10th and 11th.

Just as a migratory bird flies to new locations to search for food, Aso and Takeuchi travel throughout Japan to look for exhibition space and themes for their artwork. Their Wataridori Project has traveled from the Sapporo Spring Exhibition 2009 to Niigata Prefectural Museum of Modern Art and then to the Aomori Museum of Art. After this stop in Tokyo, the exhibition will continue on to Morioka, Shizuoka, Nagoya and then Okinawa.

They work in many mediums, from oil paintings to photographs and installations, their creations inspired by the places and people they meet during their travels.

The works on display at Art Front Graphics are pieces the artists created in Sapporo and Nagaoka.

Permanent works by other artists, such as Aki Yamamoto, Norihito Tsuchiya, Kellie Miller, Toru Kaneko, and Masumi Nakaoka will also be on exhibit.
