Nozomi Tanaka was born in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture in 1989. She won the grand prize at VOCA exhibition which is the gateway to success for young paintors in Japan. This artist does painting based on her own research by field work and residence belong with the ethnological approach to raise her own indigenous theme for her painting. she inspired from a history and indigenous manner and customs in local place. Those research for the place make her paintings multiple layered in time and leads her paintings are as being timelessness. The relationship between place and painting is her unique question, since a canvas was invented in western country, they are separated each other.
In this exhibition, She is going to show her new approach for the relationship between place and painting.
