Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2015 has finished on Sunday 13 September 2015.
There are the artworks available to see from Monday 14 September 2015 onward including Cai Guo-Qiang's exhibition at KINARE.

Cai Guo-Qiang's exhibition: Penglai / H?rai at Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Museum of Contemporary Art/KINARE
Cai presents a large-scale dynamic installation laced with humour and ironies. Invoking as a metaphor Penglai/Horai, the legendary island in ancient Chinese mythology where immortals were believed to reside, the installation responds to its theme of “islands”, which have been a source of tension amongst countries in East Asia, drawing attention both within and beyond Japan leading up to the 70th anniversary of the end of the Pacific War this summer. Approximately 1000 objects made of straw, created with the help of children under the guidance of local straw masters, will be laid around the island in the form of a dragon. With its realization engaging people and places spanning national borders, the installation, in short, shows the true worth of his artworks.
