Kumi Yamashita1968-
Yamashita is renown for her Light-Shadow Series, where the relief in wood (often silhouette of persons) is shed light with single light source to create effect of living people. Materials are in relation to the light and shadow, the immaterials, and Yamashita is quite popular for her perfection of this series. Recently she tries a new series inspired by Origami she learned as a child with modern design, associated with the elements of universe. She also creates portraits made entirely of a single, unbroken sewing thread.
