Setouchi Triennale 2016 : Art report - Alfredo & Isabel Aquilizan

”From the island of Iriko(Dried young sardine)”

The Autumn session of Setouchi Triennale is comming soon! In this session we invited 6 inernational artists and their work will be to add an extra touch for this session.

Ibuki is land is famous for Iriko(dried young sardines), and it's located on the end of west in Setouchi Art Triennnale.
This IIbuki island has participated to Setouchi from last time(2013).

Alfredo & Isabel Aquilizan have visited Ibuki island to create their new work.
They got chance to show their works in Japan many times recently. In those Occasions, We often see their works and installations it's made of Card board and also they are shown indoor basically. However, in this time, we can see their different type of work. Their choice of material must be changed to this occasion of outside installation.

They found a panel of net for drying fish in this island which used to use for the island's major products Iriko.
Their work will be placed to the important place in Ibuki island where used to be an gathering point for influential people in ibuki.

Their work will be a huge monumental construction which brings ibuki's history and also it will be a symbol of connection between the world and this small island.
Please expect their new work in Ibuki island!
