Setouchi Triennale has just inaugurated (April 14-May 18) , and the artist Goro Murayama created on the spot his new works in Hamaguchi House in Ogi Island, Kagawa.

He once stated that the island has its own time, defined by the topology and the moving of the sun over the island as well as by the regular schedule of ferry between the main land. “This gentle but strict time was the starting point of my works. I tried to create a place to synchronize with the old architecture as space, the residency of myself, and the bodily entity of the plants / seashells fostered in their own growth which structure the specific time itself as lifelog.”

The repetition of the organic pattern on the wall of the second floor, the inlayed motifs of the plants on the old wood, once used for the Tokono-ma” or wall-niche in this house, will invite the viewer to experience the whole world with generation and decomposition, together with its time.
