Noriyuki Haraguchi 1946-
Haraguchi started his career as early as in 1966, and was credited to be one of the most influential artists of Mono-ha. He exhibited in Documenta 6 in 1977 for the first time as a Japanese artist, impressing Western audience with his iron pool filled with oil named oil pool. That was his debut in international art scene followed by his participation in Paris Youth Biennale and exhibit in Munchen, Germany. Since then, Haraguchi has produced refined yet powerful sculpture seeking better relationship of men and society under the subject of plastic representation of the materials. He once mentioned to his policy of "not creating" which means the existence of the materials are not adequate, so that the artist tries to intervene the creation of the place itself.
