New works of Aki Yamamoto : Dawning in Spring

2018/04/13

We are exhibiting in Art Front Gallery more than 20 pieces of Aki Yamamoto in current exhibit. In addition, one can see some recent 10 pieces in the office space.
We are pleased to introduce a new work "Dawning in Spring" depicting the joyful landscape of the spring season. The works of Yamamoto are based on cutout from landscape that the artist views in everyday life. However, it is impossible to grasp at once to depict every corner of the landscape unlike photograph which, according to the artist, records everything as Vermeer in seventeenth century tried to paint all with emerging camera obscula. For Yamamoto, “seeing” is “missing” or leaving something missing, where her own perspective will be reflected in the picture plane. She prefers taking incomplete herself in her work, rather than depicting everything completely, through “replacing” the incomplete parts with her own color and form.
