Bunpei Kado《Climbing and Drifting》
Bunpei Kado – “Climbing and Drifting”
Bunpei Kado transforms the room into a dual narrative of movement and stillness. Inspired by his signature "Bouldering Series," the room features vivid climbing holds that extend across walls and ceilings, inviting the viewer into a sensory environment that blurs sport and art, imagination and physicality. The installation reflects the active spirit of Pingtung’s natural surroundings.
In contrast to the dynamism of the active sport of bouldering, the installation forms a landscape, and the view when lying on the bed appears to be of floating islands and boats drifting in space, evoking a meditative state of “drifting”. The juxtaposition of “climbing” and “drifting” expresses the dynamic interplay between energy and serenity, urban imagination and coastal calm.

Eko Nugroho – “Voyage of Imagination: A Journey of Love and Hope”
The Eko Nugroho room installation is a vibrant journey towards optimism. With towering graphics symbolising pillars of strength, the room invites visitors into an imaginary world where kindness, empathy and shared humanity are tools to overcome difficulties.
Inspired by the universe, the walls are filled with a fantastic presence and vibrant energy. Eco's work celebrates imagination as a form of resistance and healing, and conveys an uplifting message at a time when the world is in urgent need of love and care. The room tells the story of Pingtung/Haikou Port's growing international presence, using contemporary art from the arts festival to build bridges of hope.

Yume Aoyama – “The Story of Princess Palen: The Hundred-Pacer Snake and the Chief’s Daughter”
Yume Aoyama creates a mythopoetic space inspired by the oral traditions of the Indigenous Rukai people of southern Taiwan. Centering on the revered legend of Princess Palen and the sacred hundred-pacer snake, her room features mural paintings where the serpent coils with quiet dignity, symbolizing protection and harmony with nature. The proud figure of Princess Palen stands beside it, embodying courage, beauty, and ancestral respect.
Aoyama's bold colors and symbolic forms turn the room into a dreamlike narrative where guests "walk inside a myth." The work connects the natural and cultural heritage of Pingtung with contemporary imagination, reinforcing the values of coexistence with nature and honoring land-based knowledge.
